Endorsements Process
Endorsing aligned Democratic candidates committed to elevating and supporting AANHPI communities in Los Angeles County is a crucial element of our work. Our community-driven endorsement process includes an Endorsement Committee comprised of our members, which hosts candidate endorsement interviews and makes direct recommendations to our Full Board. A more detailed explanation of our endorsement process is available below.
The Asian Democrats of LA County intend to provide where possible support to endorsed candidates, which may include donations, canvassing and phone banking events, and other targeted supports.
Our Board will also choose to endorsement ballot measures and policies that align with the mission and values of our organization and elevate AANHPI voices in Los Angeles. In accordance with our by-laws, ballot measure/policy endorsements will be voted on directly by our Board.

Candidate Endorsement Process
The Asian Democrats of Los Angeles County Endorsement Committee brings together Board and community members to provide diverse perspectives throughout ADLAC’s endorsement process.
Candidates begin by (1) submitting an endorsement questionnaire. The Endorsement Committee then (2) organizes interviews for all candidates who applied.
Once the Endorsement Committee makes its recommendation—whether to endorse, not endorse, or otherwise—the full ADLAC Board votes on that recommendation. A simple majority vote of the Board is required to adopt an endorsement, while overturning the committee’s decision requires a supermajority of 60% or more. This process ensures that community voices remain central and that endorsements reflect thoughtful input from both ADLAC’s leadership and our community partners.
